Storyboard Text

  • "His specs- use them as burning glasses!" (40)
  • "Give me my specs" (41).
  • Now you been and set the whole island on fire" (45).
  • "Oh, shut up!" (44)
  • "Perhaps that's what the beast is- a ghost" (90)
  • "Bollocks to the rules! We're strong- we hunt!" (91)
  • In this scene, the boys are grouping up to take Piggy's glasses from him to start a fire. They all gang up on him and act like savages which is deindividuation.
  • "There's no signal now. Nothing to show" (107).
  • "You're nuts on the signal" (107).
  • In this scene, deindividuation is present because the boys want to start a fire for smoke to get rescued and they do so by ganging up on Piggy and stealing his specs. However, they end up starting a forest fire and burning a large portion of the island.
  • "Kill the pig! Cut the throat!" (114)
  • In this scene, Piggy suggests that perhaps the beast is a ghost. In the midst of all this, Piggy has the conch and Jack repeatedly tells him to shut up, and says "If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!" After this is said, the entire group follows after him, leaving only Ralph, Piggy and Simon.
  • In this scene, Ralph notices that there is no fire signal, and panics and is in a frantic about what to do. He's conflicted with building a fire and still locating the beastie. Since the Chief is in a panic so is everyone else.
  • This scene represents deindividuation because the entire group is chanting this, which shows that they're losing their morals and becoming more and more like savages.
