California Gold Rush 1848-1855
January 24, 1848-James Marshall is bulding a fort on John Sutter's land, where he finds gold nuggets.
1848-Word spread like wildfire, that there was a gold in California. Everyone migrated to California in hopes to become rich.
Oh golly! We have to go to California!
1948-In desperation, squatters would go directly to John Sutter's land and mine. Which led to his land being in ruins.
STOP! YOU ARE DESTROYING MY HARD EARNED LAND!
Even though miners didn't get that rich off of gold, many merchants did because they had the opportunity to sell supplies to miners.
