Storyboard Text

  • It was a bright, frozen day in December and Old Phoenix was on a journey.
  • Out of my way, all you foxes, owls, beetles, jack rabbits, coons and wild animals!
  • Old Phoenix walked through hills and trees, over rivers, and around the path.
  • Feel as though I've got chains about my feet. Same as always: up through the pines. Down through the oaks.
  • But there was no boy. And there was no cake. Old Phoenix had imagined it all.
  • "Why thank you for the cake little boy"
  • She came across a hunter. Who advised her to turn around.
  • Why don't you head on home Granny.
  • No sir. I ain't scared of anything. I bound to go on my way, mister.
  • Phoenix arrived in town. She saw little black children whirling around her. And a woman approaching he on the sidewalk.
  • Wouldn't you tie my shoe mi Wouldn't look right to go in a big building without my shoes laced up.
  • Sure granny.
  • Finally, she made it to her ultimate destination.: the doctor's office.
  • ....... My grandson. My memory left me. I forgot why I made this long trip. He's not dead, missy. He's just the same.
  • Why Phoenix, how's your grandson? Have you come for his medicine? He isn't dead is he?
