Getting the Keys and Candles
The Throwing of the Tea
The commander orders Hewes to get the keys to the hatches and 12 candles from the Captain. The camera shot is a medium shot. In this scene, the Captain is giving Hewes the keys to the hatches. The characters in this scene are the Captain of the ship (right) and Hewes. (left)
In this scene Hewes and others are throwing tea overboard. They are dumping the tea into the water and tearing the tea crates apart. They are doing this because they didn't like the tax laws. They dressed as Indians so that if they got caught they wouldn't know they were colonists, they would think that they are just the Indians.
There was complete silence. The deck was clean, and everything is put up. There was no damage to anything on deck except the tea. They were surrounded by armed British ships.
