Pheidippedes Run: He ran 150 miles from Marathon to Sparta in 2 days to ask for help. Sparta said no. Some people believe that he ran 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce the victory. But then, he died.

Xerxes Attacks (Xerxes' Bridge): When King Darius dies in 490, his son Xerxes takes over. He launches a new invasion of Greece in 480 BCE. He crosses Hellespont which today in known as Dardanelles. He roped hundreds of boats together to create a bridge and cross the water
Battle of Thermopylae: The Greeks needed to slow down the Persian army so they wouldn't get to Athens quickly. Thermopylae was a narrow passage through the mountains. A traitor told the Persians the Greeks plans and showed them another passage. The Persians attacked from behind
Battle Outcome: King Leonidas of Sparta sent 7000 Greeks to Athens to save them. 300 soldiers from Sparta fought to the death to slow down the Persians. That gave Athens time to get 200 ship ready for battle. The Greek ships were smaller and faster so that meant that they could turn better. Persians were destroyed but the Persians attacked Athens and burned it down
