" Aislynn's hands were bleeding. Her dress was stained with dirt and muck, her hair unraveling with each heaving breath" (15).
" All of it was her fault. She should have tried harder, should have controlled the curse..." (15).
" Throwing her apologies over her shoulder, she pushed past her parents. " I need some air. I'm sorry"' (60).
" She took a deep breath, trying to calm the magic now burning inside her" (59).
Exposition Aislynn was supposed to stay at the ball, but she has wondered away and might have caught herself in big trouble because of her curse.
Rising Action As the next ball came around the headmistress delayed the introduction and had to wait to get presented. Aislynn thought it was all her fault and she was trying so hard to keep her curse locked inside her but her heart began to shake.
