Storyboard for The Scarlet Ibis
By: Caroline Booher and Camille Peace
My baby brother came home from the hospital. I didn't like his name so I called him Doodle. He has a heart condition and won't live long.
Wait don't leave me!
Doodle could relate to the bird as he has some of the same problems. Like, red, weak, small, hard time with movement. "His little legs, bent sharply at the knees, seemed so fragile, so thin."
The last day of training, Doodle decides that he is too weak to keep training. Brother gets mad and heads home.
As Brother is heading home he realizes Doodle isn't behind him. When he goes to get him he realizes that he was too late.
After he saw his dead brother on the ground, like the ibis, he realized how selfish he was thinking that if he made his brother be normal, everything would be easier.
