  • This shall determine that.
  • Act III Scene II
  • Tybalt is gone and Romeo banishèd. Romeo that killed him-he is banishèd.

  • Act III Scene III
  • Tybalt has come into town on a mission to fight Romeo because he was at the party uninvited. Romeo denies, but Mercutio accepts. Mercutio is killed by Tybalt in the fight after Romeo tries to stop it. Romeo is then heated and stabs Tybalt. Due to the Prince's rule, Romeo is now exiled from Verona.
  • Act III Scene IV
  • Monday, ha ha! Well, Wednesday is too soon. O' Thursday let it be. -O' Thursday, tell her.
  • The nurse has given Juliet the news about the fight between Romeo and Tybalt. Juliet is completely distraught. She believes that Romeo is dead and a murderer. The nurse denies and tells her the real truth. She promises that Romeo will be here by tonight.
  • Act III Scene V
  • Your lady mother is coming to your chamber. The day is broke; be wary; look about.
  • Romeo and Friar Lawrence meet in Friar Lawrence's cellar. Romeo does not know what his punishment is and is in misery. The Friar tells him that the Prince has only banished him and is not planning to kill him. The Friar says that he should be grateful that he is not dead but Romeo is distraught. The Nurse arrives with a ring from Juliet. Romeo will stay the night with Juliet then flee to Mantua.
  • O deadly sin, O rude thankfulness! Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind prince, Taking thy part, hath rushed aside law. And turned that black word "death" to "banishment."
  • Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Paris are all together. Capulet, because of the recent events with Romeo, has declared that Juliet and Paris shall get married. He insists that Juliet will agree. Capulet says Wednesday will be the date of the marriage, but then decides that is too soon, and changes it to Thursday.
  • Romeo has spent the night with his love Juliet. He is then ready to leave as Juliet has some final romantic comments. Overcome with a heavy heart, Romeo then decides to stay. The Nurse enters and tells that Lady Capulet is coming. Romeo then splits from Juliet in agony. Lady Capulet calls to Juliet and has something to talk about. She tells her the news about her marriage happening on Thursday with Paris. Juliet snaps and instantly denies. Capulet finds about this, and threatens to disown her. When Capulet and Lady Capulet leave, Juliet asks the nurse what to do. Unexpectedly, the Nurse says that Paris is the better choice. Juliet then rushes to the Friar's cellar and says that if the Friar cannot help her, she will take her own life.
