  • She is beautiful, I need to make a statue of her
  • Pygmalion was begging Aphrodite to marry the statue since it kind of looked as Aphrodite and that was exactly what he wanted to marry.
  • Meeting with the Mentor
  • As Pygmalion beg Aphrodite, Aphrodite got amazed of Pygmalion’s statement that “there is no life without love, and there is no love without life” (Hofman pg. 204). After hearing this statement Aphrodite granted Pygmalion’s request, and turned his statue in a wonderful women
  • Crossing the First Threshold
  • Pygmalion meet a mentor called Aphrodite. For Aphrodite, Cyprus was a sacred land which she loved so much. Aphrodite was the Goddess of love and beauty, and was one of the 12 Gods that lives in Mount Olympus. Pygmalion met Aphrodite in his dream because of the prayer of mothers in Cyprus to find maiden for him.

  • Wait, this isnt exactly Aphrodite but she is still beatiful
  • Pygmalion communicated with Aphrodite through his dream, so that Aphrodite could help Pygmalion to find his lover as she promised to the mothers of Cyprus.
  • Hmm. I understand
  • I am lonely I need someone to love me
  • Pygmalion needs to get married as Aphrodite promised to mothers of Cyprus. For this to happen, Pygmalion made an agreement with Aphrodite. Pygmalion told to Aphrodite to let him finish his last piece of statues before he marries. The piece that Pygmalion need to finish was the statue of the girl he loves, and that is Aphrodite.
  • Pygmalion is making his final statue before Aphrodite makes her wish. He is making "Galatea" which is a statue that will look like Aphrodite.
  • At first, Pygmalion tried to make a statue that looks like Aphrodite, but as Pygmalion had finished his statue, he knew that the statue that he made was no longer Aphrodite, so he gave the statue a new name which was Galatea.
