The scene begins with the three witches gathered around a boiling cauldron making a spell. The witches say, "Double, double toil and trouble, Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. "
Do my eyes deceive me? This is the ghost of Banquo I see before me.
If one born of a woman's womb cannot harm me, certainly Macduff won't be able to hurt me. But for safety measures, I'll send some people to take care of him.
The second apparition says, "Be violent, bold, and firm. Laugh at the power of other men, because nobody born from a woman will ever harm Macbeth." This shows a bloody motif and how much power Macbeth has.
Macbeth sees a ghost of Banquo and is horrified by it because of the third apparition proclaimed by the three witches. That Banquo's future bloodline is to be successors to the title of King.
Macbeth demanding to know the meaning of the apparitions lead him to know his fate early. Blood will be shed (Blood) and a new king will rise.
