- Jose grew up in a household filled with family members with strong personalities and was often surrounded by violence. His parents constantly told him if he ever got into a fight, he better win or just not come home at all.
- SCENE 4
- Just because Jose was a boy, his parents and older siblings thought toughening him up and making him aggressive towards everyone would make him a man.
- SCENE 5
- OFFICE, NOW!
- One day, Jose got into an altercation with another boy at school. This altercation started with insulting remarks and escalated to a physical brawl.
- SCENE 6
- Punches were thrown and kicks were given.
- Moments later, a school aid comes and breaks up the fight. Jose and the boy were sent to the principal’s office.
- Their parents were called and a meeting was set up to address the situation and the process of further action. After the meeting, the boys were given an ultimatum of either being sent to Inafa’maolek for peer mediation sessions or suspension.
