  • Unification is based on the same language, nationality and culture. Therefore, there were many revolution wars.

  • Racial superiority was a popularized view of unification.
  • Science was abused to justify both racism and slavery.
  • We the liberals sought individual happiness with relatively more freedom and less intervention in governing.

  • Weaken the remaining power of the medieval church, and promote individual economic and political power against the political power of the state (with laissez-faire).

  • People expected greater liberty, freedom and personal conception of happiness for each individual.
