Storyboard Text

  • Maker's Mindset
  • The Idea
  • sprinkler + RPi2 + wx forecast = smart sprinkler If RAIN, then reschedule. If DRY/HEAT, then water.
  • "sprnklr"
  • Picking A Wx Data Provider
  • Burt's excited to start his latest project with a Raspberry Pi. He's experimented with them before, and he's finally ready to build a shippable product to start making money.
  • Getting Started With TWC APIs
  • weatherapi.com
  • GET KEY
  • Burt's convinced he's got a winning product with "sprnklr" - a smart lawn sprinkler that knows when it's going to rain, when it's going to be dry. He just doesn't know which wx API will give sprnklr the most exposure. He needs his product to be found & used.
  • The "Thing' (End Product)
  • There are several reputable wx APIs out there. Burt needs to weigh the pros & cons of each. He's not risk adverse so he's willing to work w/ a startup, but he could use some help reaching a big enough audience for this to really pay off. He's got lots to think about.
  • Deciding About The Dalton Platform
  • With the most trusted & accurate brand, and competitive pricing, Burt goes with TWC APIs. They offer 3-day, 5-day, 10-day & monthly forecasts, as well as robust alerts. And, most importantly, they're easy to use... Burt wants to get started ASAP.
  • sprnklr is ready to ship! It's easy for any homeowner to install on their lawn and track/manage on their iOS or Android device(s), using the simple widget Burt built. The widget isn't very robust, but it gets the job done.
  • Burt's at a crossroad: he's made a few sales, he's gotten a little PR, but not enough to declare success. He's thinking about adding sprnklr to the Dalton app to take advantage of 20M+ users, who may water their lawns, and care about saving $$ and the environment.
