My parents have just died. I inherited their money, but not enough to run this farm. They held onto it for over 70 years. I just'll have to leave. Maybe I'll sell it to ol' Dusty here.
The Agricultural Revolution began.
The Enclosure Movement, crop rotation... this is a ton of change! Dusty ol' farmer Brown is still angry, though.
I have a bit of money, enough to buy half a business, but when I first get there, I'll get a little, insignificant job. I'll keep my money saved. As far as anyone knows, I am practically broke.
Large groups of people moved to the cities to find work. This is called "Urbanization".
I'm moving to the city. Everyone is. There are lots of machines now, here on the farm, and less need for people. It's a little discouraging.
Some really nice girls my age put together what little they had to buy me a new dress for work. They are also giving me tips on my job. I'll pay them back soon.
People didn't have much money when they worked in factories.
I hated the pay, but with my friends, I noticed how good I was at this job. I hope my boss noticed, too.
Hmmm...
My boss asked to meet with me at a cute little cafe.
I've noticed how you've done very well... yet seem very relaxed and... just like you're not working very hard. I believe you have more money than you let on. If this is true, I would like to split my business with you. $5000. You in?
Yes!
For years, I lived peacefully with my business. I gave my friends raise after raise... until Great War started.
