Storyboard Text

  • Must Cross the Delaware
  • We must cross!
  • Taking the Boats
  • You can not take my boats!
  • Washington Proposes Plan
  • We will cross the river and attack Trenton.
  • No! That is a terrible idea!
  • Washington and his army arrive at the shore of the Delaware River. If they do not cross they will be shot and attacked by the enemy.
  • Loading the Boats
  • Hurry it up men!
  • Washington needs boats in order to cross the river. He finds a local who has some, but he will not give them over to the army. Washington orders his men to take them instead.
  • Clear the Guard House
  • After setting up camp across the river, a man who lived nearby gave Washington use of his house as a headquarters. This is where Washington proposes the plan to the others about going back over the river and attacking Trenton. General Gates disagrees and is thrown out of camp.
  • Attack on Trenton
  • Washington puts Glover in charge of loading the boats and his fishermen. The dock is too small, which causes the loading of the boats take longer. It caused the time of attack to be moved to 8am and attacking in daylight.
  • Alexander Hamilton and another go into a Hessian guard house where they kill the four guards inside, so they could not warn the town that Washington's army was coming to attack.
  • Washington and his army arrive at Trenton, they attacked at 8am. They killed 20 Hessians and around 100 were wounded. 1,000 were captured.  The Hessians retreated after their colonel was shot, who later died after Washington talked to him.
