Punic war 3
The first Punic war started because Rome was scared of the Carthaginians. Rome won because they designed a bridge that the Romans could go across to the enemy ship. Rome got Sicily and agreed to make peace.
The Carthaginian army attacked Rome by taking Elephants up a mountain so they could get a sneak attack. But when they got there, they did not have the heavy equipment they needed to get through the wall. They roamed the countryside for 15 years. They also salted and burned the fields. Rome attacked their city and Hannibal lost his first war. They got money, Spain, copper, gold, lead, and iron.
Carthage showed signs of regaining power, so the Romans attacked. They burned and salted their fields, and burned their city. They also killed their people or sold them into slavery. They got Greece out of the war.
