  • Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • In "Letter from Birmingham Jail" Dr. King states that blacks are treated poorly.
  • He says, "...when you have seen hate-filled policemen curse, kick, brutalize, and even kill your black brothers and sisters with impunity..."
  • This proves that the blacks are treated poorly compared to the whites.
  • He says, "Beyond this, I am in Birmingham because injustice is ." Also he says "I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham.
  • Stand for what you believe in
  • This proves that Dr. King came to Birmingham to fix Injustice; therefore, he is fighting for what he believes in, which is segregation.
  • In "Letter from Birmingham Jail" Dr. King stands up for what he believes in.
  • One has to work to bring change
  • In "Letter from Birmingham Jail" Dr. King shows through his actions that you have to work to bring change.
  • This shows that Dr. King left Atlanta and came to Birmingham to make changes in segregation.
  • He says, "...invited us to be on call to engage is nonviolent direct-action program if such were deemed necessary.
