  • Was the Dred Scott Case fair?
  • When Doctor Emerson took his slave Scott on duty for work Dred Scoot was living as a free black
  • Lawyer Roger B Taney told supreme Court that Dred Scott is not a citizen and is considered property.
  • 1846 Dred Scott sues Supreme Court for freedom
  • Emerson dies and his widow becomes Dred Scott's owner but Scott believes he is free
  • You're mine now
  • But I'm free???
  • 1861 Civil War begins
  • I'm suing for my freedom because i was living in free territory and Ms. Emerson wants me to work as a slave
  • In 1846 Scott sues for his freedom
  • 1863 Emancipation Proclamation is established
  • Dred Scott living on free soil does not make him FREE he is not a citizen
  • Dred Scott loses the case and his freedon
  • Dred Scott is property and not a citizen therefore making him a slave
  • Abraham Lincoln- lawyer from Kentucky served from 1861-1865 and supported Dred Scott against the Supreme court in the case of Scott suing for his freedom
