Storyboard Text

  • Lesson 1: We are going to use the "sun" to make shadows. We are going to measure those shadows and make comparisons!
  • We are going to use an overhead projector and make shadows of our hands on the wall. We will trace and cut them and figure out whose hands belong in big, medium and small!
  • Lesson 2: We are going to learn about transparency and opaque.
  • We will make predictions about whether objects are transparent or opaque. Students will test out their ideas by shining light on objects.
  • We will be using mirrors to reflect the light of a flashlight. Students will be asked to move the light to different areas of the classroom using their mirrors.
  • Lesson 3: We are learning about reflecting light.
  • We will be building our own kaleidoscopes and using light to see our designs!
  • Lesson 4: Making Kaleidoscopes
  • Lesson 5: Kaleidoscopes in reverse
  • We will learn about spinning color wheels under light to make the colors disappear.
  • We are going to use prior knowledge of mixing oil and water to design a lava lamp!
