Junior, you still have hope. We have all given up, but you need to leave this reservation forever and don't give up.
I want to go to Reardan school, because they have hope.
No! Is it just because you think you're better than me?!
I'm transferring to Reardan tomorrow. Please come with me.
Conflict: Man Vs. Society I think that it its man versus society as everyone is discriminating against the Indians and are trying very hard to get rid of them. In the story, Junior thinks that Indians should not be discriminated and should have the same and fair education as the whites. Just becasue they were Indians, they should not be thought of as less competent and worthless. Mr P. feels guilty for discriminating against Indian culture in the past and is trying to atone for his sins by telling Junior that he still has hope. Junior's parents had lost hope a long time ago, but they knew that Junior still had hope and they were waiting for the day where their son could finally help the Indians and give them the proper treatment they deserved.
