  • Prologue
  • In this story there is a major flood hint, the title of the story is The Johnstown Flood.
  • Exposition
  • May 31, 1889, the dam burst creating a massive wave that took out a town.
  • Rising Action
  • The rising action of this story is when Abbie and Libby turned around with Gertrude and went back to the house instead of going on the hill.
  • Climax
  • The climax of the story is when Mr. Quinn figures out that Abbie and Libby took Gertrude back to the house instead of staying at the hill. They wouldn't walk in the water because Abbie didn't want to put her feet in dirty water.
  • Falling Action
  • The falling action is when Gertrude is stuck in the house amd has to climb through a hole to get out then shes floating down a stream and people keep trying to help her but don't succeed. Then she finds a mattress to float on and a man jumps off his raft and stays with her.
  • Resolution
  • The resolution is that the man that was helping Gertrude threw her to some men so she could get saved.
