At the birth of Hemeros, the newborn son of Milos and Andrianna, the Three Fates paid a visit. Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos determined that Hemeros would die when he fell in love. That was his fate.
We cannot let our son fall in love! If he does then he will die!
We must keep him away from all of the maidens in the village then.
So as Hemeros grew up, his parents made sure that he was only playing with boys, however they never mentioned his fate to him.
The boys became very close as they grew up. Because Hemeros was never allowed to spend time with girls, he spent most of his time with boys.
When Hemeros got older, he realized that he was not interested in girls but instead developed feelings for his friend, Adonis, who felt the same way about Hemeros.
Suddenly, Hemeros fainted and the Fates appeared. Atropos had cut Hemeros' thread of life. Adonis called Hemeros' parents over and they all cried. All fates are inescapable.
We must keep the balance of life and death.
