Storyboard Text

  • Setting
  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • The setting for this story takes place in the Caribbean(Ship Trap Island.) The year it takes place in the mid-1920's. "...moonless, dank, warm, Caribbean night." (Connell, page 1)
  • Climax
  • In the exposition we learn about Rainsford's hunting prowess and his newest expedition to South America, while passing through the Caribbean. "We should make it in a few days. I hope the jaguar guns have come from Purdey's. We should have some good hunting up the Amazon." (Connell, page 1)
  • Falling Action
  • The rising action displays an odd mixture of traits. On the other hand general Zaroff is very charming, intelligent, and wee-spoken. "He had outstanding manners but their was just one thing that was off about him every time Rainsford would look up he found the general staring at him" (Connell, page 4)
  • Resolution
  • The climax occurs when Rainsford finds out that general Zaroff likes the thrill of luring people to his island to hunt them, this is also when Rainsford learns that the general wants to hunt him. "...thats murder..." "Tonight we will hunt you, and I." (Connell, page 6)
  • The falling action occurs when we wonder what if Rainsford is still alive or if he has died after he jumped off the cliff in the sea. "Rainsford see's a blue opening and jumps far out into the sea." (Connell, page 12)
  • The resolution of this story occurs when Rainsford kills general Zaroff and wins the fatal game. "The general made one of his deepest bows. "I see," he said. "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford." . . . (Connell, page 13) He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided."
