Pip is supposed to meet the Mr. Pocket but instead he is shocked to find Herbert Pocket, the pale young gentleman
Pip and Herbert become good friends and decide to live together. Herbert helps Pip to become a gentleman by teaching him table etiquette.
Pip is interested in knowing the back story of Miss Havisham so Herbert tells Pip everything he knows. In summary, Miss Havisham was left alone and devasted on her wedding day.
"You will want a good many ships" (182).
"A perfect fleet" (182).
Pip goes to the Pockets home to find it is very chaotic.
Pip meets Mr. Pocket and makes the inference that he is a gentleman who can't get his life in order at home.
