Chapter 23 and 24
Tante Lou, Miss Emma, Rev. Ambrose and Jefferson stand awkwardly in a small cell. Jefferson did not want to leave his radio in his room, and refuses to speak to his visitors.
Tante Lou, Miss Emma, and Rev. Ambrose confront Grant at the kitchen table about him bringing Jefferson the "sin box" and making Jefferson ignore them.
A few day later Grant visits Jefferson and they have a peaceful conversation. Grant offers to bring Jefferson a pen and paper so he can write down his thoughts.
The family and Rev. meet up at the court house and Grant has the journal to give to Jefferson.
Things are not going very well, and Jefferson says he is not hungry. Grant asks Jefferson to walk with him.
Grant gets Jefferson to promise that he will eat to make his godmother to feel better.
