I had just driven my flock of sheep back into my cave when all of a sudden...
“Who are you who enter unbidden the house of Polyphemus? Traders or thieving pirates?”
“Shipwrecked warriors from Troy are we, and your suppliants, under the protection of Zeus, the suppliant’s god.”
I am bigger than any god, and I fear none of them! I stretched out my arm and snatched one of the strangers, then I dashed his brains out on the ground and feasted until the last delicious shred.
After eating the human, I felt full and laid down to sleep; I was not worried about the strangers escaping for I am the only one who possesses the strength to roll away the boulder blocking the exit.
The next morning, I awoke and took two of them for breakfast then drove my flock outside the cave.
When I returned I was famished, so I ate another stranger. After my feast was over, the stranger in charge looked to me...
“Why I think that’s a splendid idea!”
“Would you care for a drink? You must be thirsty from all of your feasting.”
