  • Native American resistance
  • Well we have already made treaties with them . It's either they buy it from us or take it with force.
  • They think they can just come and take over our land , dont they ?
  • The Battles in Canada and The Great Lakes
  • Stop controlling our Lake and give it back to us !
  • In 1812, President James Madison decided to go to war with Britain after Britain tried to restrict U.S trade and were involved in the Impressment of American sailors .
  • The Bombardment of Fort McHenry
  • " Oh ! say can you see .... "
  • During the War of 1812 the American military had started conflict with Native groups in the Northwest. They would come into the Natives territory and either buy their land from them or just take it without permission . This lead to the British giving the Natives guns that they would use to team up with the British and go against the Americans with in war.
  • Battle of New Orleans
  • Hooray !
  • It's good to know that we ended this war with a victory !
  • On September 10 of 1813 nine ships from the U.S navy went to battle with Britain and defeated them and captured six ships from the British Royal Navy. This victory allowed the Americans to take control of Lake Erie for the rest of the war.
  • How the war led to the Industrial Revolution
  • While Francis Scott Key was being held prisoner on a British war ship he watched the British attack the Americans on Fort McHenry. During the fight the American flag kept waving which meant the Americans were winning. Out of patriotism he began to write a poem that we now know today as the Star Spangled Banner .
  • On December 14, 1814, The United States and Great Britain signed a treaty ending the War of 1812. The signing of this treaty didn't get around to everyone though and The Battle of New Orleans was still fought. It was a bloody battle led by future president , Andrew Jackson and ended with American victory.
  • After the war most Americans were cut from main foreign suppliers so they didn't have access to foreign goods. Along with that the British started making blockades along the eastern seaports. Since they had absolutely no way of foreign trade anymore they began to trade with American merchants. Soon American factories started to expand and people started to believe that manufacturing was more important than agriculture.
