Hi, my name is Mrs. Athenian Lady, and behind me is the acropolis. Us Athenians are highly educated because we focus on mostly intellectual education, but us girls have to stay home and do chores around the house.
Greetings, my name is Mr. Spartan Warrior Guy, and I stay in wonderful physical condition because, here in Sparta, we only train for battle so if people try to attack, we are ready for them. Oh, and behind me, those kids are fighting each other to train.
Why don't you Spartans get educated?
Because we need to be ready for war!
In Athens, education was both intellectual, and physical. Women were not allowed to be educated at all.
In Sparta, the education was not very intellectual at all. Boys only went to school until they were five or six, then they went in to military training. They only focused on physical condition, and they didn't learn anything except how to fight.
As you can probably can tell, Athenian and Spartan education was not alike at all.
