  • I am James Madison, and I served during the War of 1812.
  • Causes of the War of 1812
  • I am taking your ship and goods to the British Navy! You are being captured!
  • No, you can't! America will solve the problem and let me free eventually!
  • Phase 1-Battles at the Great Lakes
  • I killed the Indian Chief! America has won!
  • James Madison, the father of the Constitution, was president during the war of 1812. He was the fourth president of the United States and his rule was from 1808-1816.
  • Phase 2-The Burning of Washington D.C and Fort McHenry siege
  • Burn down the Capital, destroy the city, and see to it that Americans fear the British!
  • Before the war, British ships captured merchants and sailors from the United States, disrupting foreign trade and angering our citizens. Also, the British allied themselves with the Native Americans and gave them weapons.
  • Phase 3-Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans
  • I am Andrew Jackson, Battle of New Orleans War Hero. America gained its victory at the battle and I hope to see that victory remains ours!
  • Oliver Hazard Perry took command of the Navy in Lake Eerie. At the Battle of Thames,William Henry Harrison defeated the British and claimed to have killed Native Chief Tecumseh.
  • Effects of the War
  • The Federalists make a list of Grievances and separate from America, no longer existent.
  • The British burned the capital down and destroyed the city. They lay siege on Fort McHenry, but the fort still stood. A prisoner of war named Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner, watching the ships launch cannons and the American flag waving above.
  • At the Battle of New Orleans, Andrew Jackson wipes out 2,000 British Soldiers, only sparing 71 of his men. Later on, he has a Presidential Campaign and becomes the President of the country.
  • Some effects of the war are America feeling Nationalism, the Federalist party disappearing, respect worldwide for the country, safer expansion due to lack of Indians, and the Industrial Revolution- Britain stopped sending America goods, so we had to make our own industries.
