Deep in the blue sea of the Great Barrier Reef, there was a small fish town. In this town was a starfish called Steph Star. Steph lived his life just like a normal starfish. He went to school, ate plankton and had fun with his best friend Curry the cod.
But Steph was not a happy starfish. He was jealous of all his friends, of how they could so easily glide through the water and how fast they could go. He was jealous every single day of how Curry could so easily answer the teacher’s questions, how he could understand everything they said and even how much he could shoot 3s.
Steph was so unhappy in his own body and wished to be someone else every single day.
One day on the way to school with, a man in a SeaWorld uniform with a big net caught Steph and his daddy Patrick. The man took the Stars and put them in an aquarium.
Daddy settled in right away with his new friend Spongebob. but Steph couldn't get used to people prodding him every day. One day, Spongebob told Steph how much he used to hate being in the aquarium. He said he would try to break the glass every day. But then, Spongebob looked for the good details in his new home. He found that he had food every day, he was never in danger and he made new human friends every day. Spongebob said that when he looked at the good things, he knew this was the place for him.
But then Spongebob told him that although the aquarium was the place for him and his father, it might not be for Steph. So one night, when everyone was fast asleep, Steph slipped down the pipe that filtered the tank. It was hard, but when Steph came out of the pipe, he found he was in the ocean. He was free.
Steph was home! He found Curry who had been very worried about him and did a dance with him. That night when Steph was home in his bed, he thought about what Spongebob had said. Maybe I should start thinking positively about myself, Steph thought. Spongebob had told him to look for the best in the situation, so Steph thought about his best features. He was uniquely amazing, nobody in his class was a starfish and nobody could twirl like he would. He had an amazing friend Curry and was always well fed. Steph smiled, when he thought about it like that he loved himself and was happy in his own body. When Steph thought about it, he was really quite lucky.
