Hi!! My name is Cory Crosland and I am currently in my third year BSW. I Recently finished my bachelor of Arts Psychology Degree this past December. I am employed at Social Services in Prince Albert, Sk part time. My job title is a Security Income Assistance Worker- where I assess clients regarding there circumstances, pay bills, hold informational sessions for clients applying for assistance. Aside from school I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outside enjoying the fresh air . I absolutely love fishing, walking my dog, cuddling my cat, crafting and watching movies.
I chose this topic for a few reasons. First reason is that this course is a requirement for BSW. Seceondly, I think communication is crucial to developing healthy, sustainable relationships with each other, without communication there's nothing bonding each other. I believe so many individuals lack communication due to not being able to express themselves the way they intend to. It takes a lot of courage to express proper emotion in a given siuation.
Given the scenario: A child whom was not brought up in a healthy environment from the beginning and lacked expression of love/ education in the family household. Where does a social worker begin to establish a communication when a child or adult lack the ability to express themselves and lack education to do so ?? I hope to learn how to create negative communication into a positive communication establishment.
