Storyboard Text

  • Montresor says that Fortunato has insulted him to the breaking point. Montresor offers a light Spanish sherry that could pass off as Amontillado, carrying out his plan meticulously to kill Fortunato such that he will be safe from the law.
  • Fortunato wants to taste the wine, and pretends to cough as a bait to get a chance to taste the wine. Later on, Fortunato makes a hand movement that is a secret sign of the Masons. When Fortunato asks for proof of Montresor being a Mason, he presents his trowel. Fortunato says that he must be jesting, and the two men continue onward.
  • As Fortunato heads toward the back of the recess where the Amontillado was stored, he was chained to a stone by Montresor. After that, he built a wall around Fortunato, Fortunato says after a final plea, “For the love of God, Montresor!” Not remorseful, Montresor says,"May he rest in peace."
