  • People didn't like John Quincy Adams anymore because they felt he didn't care about their interests. They also supported Andrew Jackson because he was a man of the people, he was relatable, and he was a war hero.

  • Andrew Jackson served from 1828 to 1837 as president. People liked him because he made the spoils system, which rewarded his supporters with government jobs. Some people, mostly John Quincy Adams supporters believed this to be a gimmick used by Jackson to get more votes.

  • But I think....
  • Andrew Jackson and his closest advisers met in the White House kitchen to discuss political matters that were important to America. Martin van Buren for example, was one of Jackson's strongest allies, and also the secretary of state.
