  • It's Wednesday morning, and time for Jonathan, your Antique Valuation Specialist to visit the shop to review your latest donated stock (Jewellery and Homeware).
  • Ah great, Jonathan will be in later to review our stock. Tony, our Home ware and Jewellery volunteer has been doing a great job of valuing these goods.
  • Jonathan arrives and spends the morning reviewing the donated stock...
  • I've finished reviewing everything and I've got afew suggested changes to make to some of the valuations. I also think we can change the Homeware and Jewellery display to make this more appealing.
  • Kath, the Shop Manager is aware that Tony will be in later that day for his volunteer shift.
  • I hope Tony takes the news well that we need to change some of the prices and displays, as I know he's very passionate about this area of the shop.
  • Tony arrives for his volunteer shift. Kath asks to have a quick chat, to update him on the outcome of Jonathan's visit. Tony is not happy about these suggested changes...
  • Kath, I'm really upset that you don't think my valuations are accurate. I thought you said I was doing a good job. I don't want to change the displays either.
  • Tony is angry and frustrated, and 15 minutes later tells Kath that he's going home...
  • Sorry Kath but I'm going home, What's the point in staying somewhere where you don't feel valued?
  • Kath is shocked that Tony has left as this is out of character. The other shop volunteers have started to discuss what has happened, which is effecting team morale. What steps can you take next to resolve the issue?
  • Oh no, this is awful. The last thing I wanted to do was offend Tony. I need to sort this out quickly before it gets out of hand.
