"Because I said so"
Gilgamesh was a cruel and hateful leader of Uruk. The citizens there prayed to their gods that Gilgamesh would stop being mean.
Aruru, mother of all gods, created Enkidu as a “double” for Gilgamesh to be nicer to his people. Enkidu was raised by animals and then Ishtar sent a priestess Shamat to the wild to tame him and show love and forgiveness.
Enkidu meets Gilgamesh and they had a great wrestling match which ended in a tie. They decided to become good friends and set out on many adventures together.
Sorry the way I have been treating you.
Ishtar, goddess of love and war, fell in love with Gilgamesh but he rejected her. Ishtar sent a great Bull of Heaven to fight Gilgamesh and Enkidu. They won but sadly Gilgamesh watched Enkidu, his best friend, die.
Gilgamesh wanted immortal life and asked Utnapishtim if a mortal could become immortal. Utnapishtim said only gods can grant immortality except for a special plants which Gilgamesh ended up losing to a snake.
Gilgamesh realized he would not live forever but he was a now a kinder king and a fair ruler.
