Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • This way to the Amontillado
  • Oh, I can't wait to taste some of this Amontillado
  • Claim
  • That doesn't mean you have to chain me up behind a brick wall.
  • Why are you doing this to me?
  • Because you insulted my family
  • Reason
  • You and your family are a disappointment
  • In the short story " The Cask of Amontillado" By: Edger Allan Poe the main character Montresor wants to get revenge on Fortunato for insulting his family over and over again. Montresor wanted revenge on Forunato for what he did. So Monstresor lured Fortumato into a trap with amontillado because Forunato loved wine and was an expert with it.
  • Textual Evidence
  • Jingle. Jingle
  • Fortunato. Oh Fortunato. Well I'll plaster up the last brick then.
  • Montresor's revenge wasn't justified
  • Analysis
  • Montresor's revenge isn't justified because he did something ten times worse then insulting someones family.
  • Conclusion
  • The narrator states "... I just bought a cask of Amontillado. I began. Then I paused to see if I got his attention. I did. This subject was dear to him. Amontillado? he urged. Go on" (2) "... As we walked, he remarked, " These vaults are very large." True. We Montrotresor's were a great family."(3) "...Still nothing. Again I called. Fortunato. I thrust my torch through the small hole that remained... A jingling of the jester's bells was the only response... With energy, I forceed the last stone into place. I plastered it up.(5)
  • This shows how first Monstresor lured Fortunato into his trap down into his family's catacombs to get revenge. When Fortunato said " These vaults are very large." He remarked. Then Montresor said " True. We Montresor's were a great family. This shows that Montresor was going to do something to Fortunato that would ruin the Montresor's family reputation. Then on page three this shows how Fortunato was killed when Montresor was about to seal up the brick wall.
  • Just because Fortunato insulted Montrsor's family doesn't mean you have to kill him. Montresor could've done a different punishment to Fortunato.
