  • this shows that the main character-Montresor had gotten his revenge and it was justified because he had in his code of arms and family motto it says 'no one insults me without punishment' this shows that the reasoning of this revenge was behind his family and how fortunado had insulted him and almost his family, so he felt this action was what was needed to be done.
  • Fortunado is now dead and now Montresor is happy and had built up the walls of the catacomb. No one ever had found Fortunado. Montresor's revenge surely was justified.
