  • The cell membrane
  • The DNA
  • Hello, today we will be learning about the cell cycle. The cell cycle is a process that cells go through in order to divide.
  • In this process 3 strands of DNA duplicate into 6 strands of DNA. The cell spends most of it's time caring out it's life functions for the majority of the cell cycle.
  • 1.) interphase
  • The nucleus
  • 1. Chromosomes consist of two chromatids held together by a centromere. The chromatids are exact copies of each other
  • 2. The membrane around the nucleus also disappears during this phase
  • 3. Spindle fibers from the centrioles start to stretch across the cell.
  • the chromosomes
  • 2.) Prophase, in this stage many things happen.
  • the spindle fibers
  • 3.) Metaphase, you could call it the spidey stage
  • 1. During metaphase, the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell. 2. The spindle fibers attach to the centromere of the chromosomes.
  • The chromosomes
  • Spindle fibers
  • 1. During this stage called anaphase, the chromatids of each chromosomes separate to opposite sides of the cell.
  • The cromadtids
  • 4.) Anaphase, not many things happen in this stage but it is key in creating a new cell.
  • 5.) Telophase, if you wanted to you could call this stage the duplicating stage.
  • 1. During telophase a nuclear membrane forms around each group of chromosomes. 2. The DNA returns to a loose mass of strands. 3. The cell membrane begins to pinch in.

  • The cell membrane
  • The nucleus
  • 1. This is when the CYTOPLASM SPLITS! 2. Cytokinesis occurs during telophase. 3. This is the last stage of the cell cycle.
  • Genetically identical daughter cells
  • 6.) Cytokinesis, here we are now at the final stage where we now have two genetically identical daughter cells.
