Charles Goodnight was born in 1836 and he was born in illinois. After the civil war he became a cattle rancher and pioneered in moving cattle north.
In the north there was a great demand for beef and Goodnight saw a great opportunity worth his investment.
He paired up with Oliver Loving and he hired many cow boys to help take his cattle north. The trail was longer than the other trails but it was safer and more convenient. it was later called the goodnight loving trail.
The Goodnight Loving trail stretched from Texas where the cows were in great supply to Wyoming where the cattle could be sold for $40 per head.
The trail was perfect there was plenty of food and water and other resources etc for the cows to ensure a safe travel.
When the cows reach their destination the cows are sold and the cowboys are paid. Charles Goodnight was a pioneer in the cattle industry and he encouraged the move of more trails.
