  • John Calvin was a French reformer. He was born in 1509 and died in 1564.

  • John Calvin created the idea of predestination during his time interpreting the Bible. He based the idea on the thought that God knew who would go to Heaven and rewarded them with a good life.
  • Mayflower
  • The idea of predestination spread quickly and many new groups formed. The Huguenots were a large group and spread the thoughts around Europe.
  • California
  • John Knox developed the Scottish Church of Calvinism. He made it the main religion of Scotland and Calvinism made Scotland a moral standard for the world.
  • A group of Calvinists came to the Americas in 1620. They believed that God was giving them the land and that God wanted them to kill the natives and take their land.
  • Calvinist groups came to California and killed the Native Americans.
