alliteration-the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. In the story the man pondered a weak and weary over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.
Metaphor- a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. In the story the man said the dying ember wrought it's ghost upon the floor.
Personification-something nonhuman with human characteristics or acts human. In the story a raven talks and says nevermore, ravens can't talk.
