  • Egeus goes to Duke Theseus complaining that Hermia won't marry Demetrius. Hermia loves Lysander and asks the Duke what will happen to her if she doesn't marry Demetrius. She can either become a nun or die.
  • At Quince's House...
  • You can play no part but Pyramus.
  • Lysander and Hermia decide to run away and get married. When Helena hears the news she is jealous because she loves Demetrius and Demetrius loves Hermia and not her.
  • Nay, faith, let me not play a woman!
  • Helena is sad that her friend Hermia has found love and she hasn't. To get back at Hermia, she will tell Demetrius that Hermia's plans to wed Lysander.
  • And tomorrow night meet me in the palace wood
  • The Mechanicals have to practice their play for Theseus' wedding. Bottom argues that he should play all of the roles and Quince is angry with him.
  • Flute isn't so pleased with his role....
  • Little do they know that those woods are actually the same woods that Hermia and Lysander are fleeing to. These woods are also part of Fairyland.
