My friend, Matthias Schleiden published an article stating his belief that all plant cells share a common structure and that new plant cells form from the nuclei of old plant cells.

This interested me and lead me to believe it could be true for animal cells as well.
I invited Schleiden to talk things over with me so we discussed similarities between plant nuclei and nuclei in the animal notochord.
Later, I published a book stating that all living things are made of cells: all animal tissues are built up from a basic cell structure in the same way as plants are.
I deserve the noble prize because I laid the foundations of the cell theory
