Storyboard Text

  • Mattie Eggs!
  • I am a free African- American. When I was freed I worked at a coffeehouse with a mother daughter and grandfather to free my husband. I worked for years then found out he had died. The family had helped me get through it because they too have gone through what I have. I'm now in a free African-American society and still work at that coffeehouse.
  • These are dark days.
  • Lucile had just left soon after mattie and her grandfather. When they left I went and helped the free African society. So far we are working on helping the fever victims. We volunteered but partly because Dr. Rush said that African Americans can't get the fever. How wrong he was soon we started getting infected.
  • On my way home I found mattie and a little girl named nell. She told me everything. She hoped nothing else would go wrong why was she so wrong.
  • Mattie! What are you doing here!
  • When the kids got sick we ended up bringing them to the coffeehouse. Soon one day I was awoken by Mattie running and started to drag something outside. I looked the frost had finally came.
  • The frost has come at last.
  • Because of the frost people were getting better. Then one night during dinner Mattie asked me to be her partner in reopening it took a little while but I eventually agreed. After being open for a couple of days George came back with everyone else that had escaped. I have my old life back but instead of Mattie being the troublesome duo with polly It's now the troublesome trio with Nell, William, and Roberet
  • Mattie Eggs!
  • One night after a busy day at the coffeehouse I was thinking before I fell asleep. During the time of the fever all I did was help others and that kept them alive. All I did was little things to and the whole time did I ever Think about my own health. By helping other It kind of helped me. If I didn't I would have never found Mattie and would never be where I am now. I was rigght helping others go along way.
