The Union had Industry and Business on their side meaning they always had a constant abundance of weapons and supplies. This gave the North the advantage in war.
The Battle of Antietam, the civil war in fact, was always the North's to win. The constant supply of troops and weapons as well as having the Industrial Age on their side guaranteed their victory. The South had agriculture. You can't win a war with cotton.
The Confederates had more will to fight as if they lost, they would lose a piece of their primary source of income. The South never stood a chance against the North, at least not in long term. It was farms versus factories. The Union's Technological Superiority was the main factor of the outcome of the civil war.
