Curley gets angry with Lennie for laughing, when Lennie really wasn't even laughing at him. They then get into a physical fight and Lennie destroys Curley's hand.
Lennie has internal conflict with himself over whether or not George will still want to be with Lennie after all of the trouble he caused with Curley's wife.
Crooks is excluded from the white men's bunk room because he is black, and always has to be all alone in the harness room. Society has prejudice towards those that aren't white.
