Will it please you to see the epilogue?
Bottom breaks out of character and asks if the audience wants to see the epilogue. Theseus says no, it is almost midnight and time to go to bed.
No epilogue, I pray you. Lovers, to bed; 'tis almost fairies time. Sweet friends to bed.
Now until the break of day, Through this house each fairy stray. Trip away, make not stay; Meet me all by break of day.
Puck, Oberon, Titania and the Fairies enter with brooms to sweep dust from places that humans failed to reach.
Puck tells the audience that if the actors have offended, they should think they have slept and that this was all just a dream. THE END
If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumbered here, While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream.
