First Constitutional Convention
Let's change America for the greater good!
The Signing of the Constitution
Most political leaders by the mid 1780s were ready for a change in the Articles of Confederation. On May 14. 1787 at the Philadelphia State House, the state delegates met. Every state had delegates at the convention except Rhode Island. The other 12 states sent a total of 55 delegates.
Shay's Rebellion was when farmers protests in 1786 and 1787 as well. A vast majority of the farmers in this time period were war veterans who haven't been paid for there time in the service. The state of Massachusetts threatened to take the land of these veterans. The veterans didn't take to kindly to this so they rebelled.
Since the government that was run under the Articles of Confederation crashed & burned, the Constitution was made by James Madison & the other Federalists to run a better government for America. There was a convention held in Philadelphia (first slide) to discuss this movement and it would eventually get passed.
