  • Wrap up
  • The author states in The Cask of Amontillado, "Fortunato insulted me. So I vowed revenge."(Poe, 27). In The Tell Tale Heart, the author states, "I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever."(Poe, 836)
  • In The Tell Tale Heart, the narrator didn't not have a reason to kill the old man except that his eye freaked him out, but innTye Cask Of Amontillado, Monetresor had a reason to kill Fortunato because he had insulted him. And it was in his motto to punish him.
  • Some may think that the narrator of The Tell Tale Heart was more justified but he was actually just insane. He had no good reason to kill the old man while Montresor did because of his coat of arms.
  • In conclusion, Montresor was more justified to kill than the narrator was. Montresor was insulted while the narrator was just drove mad by the eye.
