Mr.White tells Morris of a story he was telling him not to long ago about a strange monkey's paw, that he received in India. It gained control by an old fakir to grant three different men three different wishes. Mr.White wanted to keep the paw, but Morris kept telling him is caused trouble.
Morris throws the paw into the fire in the chimney and Mr.White saves it. Mr.White makes the first wish, he wishes for two hundred pounds. They hear a loud noise and its the paw is moving. Next day, they are informed that Herbert was caught in the machinery and was killed. The company gives the Whites a check for 200.
The Whites are surprised on how their wish was granted, but they were only son had died, Mrs.White is trying to convince Mr.White into wishing that his son would be alive again. Mr.White is trying to find the paw to make the wish. All of a sudden he hears a knock.
Be careful for what you wish for.
The knocking becomes louder and louder. Mrs.White wants to open the door, but Mr.White holds her back and tells her not to open it. He knows the paw is dangerous and hes scared that Herbert might be the one knocking. She runs to the door and opens it and Mr.White searches for the paw.
Mr.White finds the paw, he wishes his last wish. The knocking suddenly stops. Mrs.White opens the door and and expects to find his son ,but there was no one at the door.
The theme of "Monkey's Paw" is 'Be careful for what you wish for."
